Ge-Suk Yeo - Singing, Vocals, Voice

Ge-Suk Yeo started as a singer. In Korea she studied singing at the Seoul National University. For several years she worked in the Korean National Choir at the Seoul National Opera before she moved to Berlin, Germany in the early 1990s. At the Hochschule der Künste HdK in Berlin she took further her studies as opera singer. After getting her Diploma she got tought several years Belcanto by Maestros in Berlin and in Milan, Italy.

Meanwhile she extended her repertoire (more about this in the Zeitgenössische Musik/ Neue Musik/ Klassik section) and her voice. Influenced by different music and art styles (more about her visual art Bildkunst/ Grafische Noation section) she developed dadaistic vocabulars, uses spoken voice, noise and extends her vocals by using sampler and computer (more about this in the Elektroakustische Musik/ Hörkunst section).

Ge-Suk Yeo never looses her deep respect she has to classical Belcanto as well as of the traditional opera (Pansori) she knows from her home country Korea.

Besides beeing a singer Ge-Suk Yeo is a excellent live improviser (see the Improvisation/ Free Jazz section). She plays solo as well as with ensembles and orchestras. It's just naturally Ge-Suk Yeo started some years ago to compose for her own voice (see the Komposition section).
