ilgob sorigori
Ein Zyklus mit sieben Klang Gedichten, Deutsch/Koreanisch, 49:00 min
ilgob sorigori is a cycle of seven sound poems combined with electro-acoustic sounds and a video projection. The music is based on onomatopoetic words, the basis of rhythms and timbre. The words are spoken in different languages, which encounter at different moments. This helps to form exciting rhythms and sounds. Consonant and syllables emanate from language, but they sound like instruments, often not clear to understand. The listener himself may decide which meaning he likes to give the sounds. This forms a world of sound, which transforms into pictorial music.
Zirpen (to chirp)
a composition for electro-acoustic music, 1 Elektronik, 3:35 min
‘zirpen’ – to chirp - this are the short sharp sounds of small birds or insects we all well know from summer days and nights. Chirping sounds are the musical concept behind Ge-Suk Yeo’s contribution to for the 5th Electro -Acoustic Miniatures International Contest. Chirping sounds are so natural and present all over, that we almost forget to notice them. Chirping is communication. Chirping are simple and archaic sounds – pure sound miniatures - if you look at a single chirp sound. Chirping is a concerto looked at it in its whole. - The contest with its clear goal to use the high-tech language of electroacoustic music stays in maximum contrast to this profane world of sounds.
From a technical point of view the goal of 'zirpen', was to create an almost natural world of sounds, even if computer based algorithmic sound creators got used. But the result is not about algorithms. It’s rather about rhythms, brakes, change of fast and slow parts, overlapping of different sound layers, about the peeping, cheeping, squeaking, twittering, singing and piping, it's about the music of chirping.
DALGADAG

'dalgadag'* is an onomatopoetic Korean word and can be translated with clacking or rattling.
In Korean language it has a very pleasant, mild and mobile weight.
An onomatopoetic word like 'dalgdag' can get varied in many ways by the Korean language.
The accentuation depends on things and situations to describe. Motion and sound
can get pronounced in different ways, i. e. doelgoedoek, ttalgadag, deolkdeog, dalguedeog...
This variations makes it possible to add more meaning, imagination, movements and feelings
