John Butcher lives in London and began playing saxophone professionally in the early 80s. He initially worked in jazz (inc. the 'BBC Award' winning Chris Burn Group's "Mingus Suite"), contemporary dance and music theatre. At this time he was completing his research in physics with a doctorate on the theoretical properties of charmed quarks. Since leaving academia in 1982 he has worked almost exclusively in improvisation and 'new music'. His music ranges through free improvisation, various structurings, his own compositions, multitracked pieces, work with pre-recorded tape, and also live electronics. A selection of groups he has played with include Derek Bailey's Company Weeks, the final version of John Stevens' Spontaneous Music Ensemble, Frisque Concordance with Georg Graewe, The Phil Minton Quartet's mouthful of ecstasy project, Fred van Hove's t'nonet, Butch Morris' London Skyscraper, the Austrian new-music group Polwechsel. As an improviser he continues to play in many occasional, often once-only settings, for instance duos with Fred Frith, Misha Mengelberg, Derek Bailey, Carlos Zingaro, Steve Beresford, Kaffe Matthews, Joe Morris, Jin Hi Kim. Christoph Irmer - violin details...

Christoph Irmer was born 1958 and lives in Wuppertal (Germany). Since his studies at the Highschool of Music Cologne he plays Free Improvised Music and Free Jazz. He was a member of the improvising orchestra of the "Documenta IX" at Kassel (organized und conducted by Jon Rose), he played in two projects with Peter Kowald, he played with Tony Oxley, Trevor Watts and others, with Dominic Duval, Jay Rosen, Ursel Schlicht, Hans Tammen, and is a member of the jazz performance band "Supernova" (together with Jan Klare, Peter Eisold and others). In addition he is working with Butoh dancers. Since 2001 he is working together with Jean Sasportes, Geraldo Si, Chrystel Guillebeaud (Dance Theatre Pina Bausch). Byungjun Kwon - electronic sounds, video art

Byungjun Kwon has been playing an important role in South Korean underground music scene since the 90s. Born in 1971 and living in Seoul, he creates music for records, sound tracks, fashion collections, contemporary dance, theatre plays and interdisciplinary events. He also writes scores for traditional Korean instruments and speaks about dance through Morse code and a string quartet (for the contemporary dance "the flow"). Recent works have been presented at international exhibitions and Live performances with various artists - fashion Designers, coreograhers, art musicians in Oslo (Exhibition 'Manyfacture Margleidsla') , Seoul (Cross words - Exhibition in Gallery Nabi with Lab-au as a sound artist, live performance in Mix Max , exhibition at Art Seonje ), Vilnius (together with Ge-Suk Yeo), and Vancouver.

Miyeon - piano

Pianist Miyeon started to study the classic piano in young age. Later she graduated from Chung-Ang University with a degree in music composition. After graduation she began to study 20th century contemporary music and Jazz . She composed the music of the films and TV productions. Besides this work she was live performing in serveral countries and continents: In Japan (9 cities), in Russia (SKIF-4), in Switzerland, in Egypt, in Malaysia (with the group Drum Unique). She played together with Kang Tae-Hwan (a. sax), Satoh Masahiko (pf), Ned Rodenberg (as, cla), Umezu Kazutoki (as,ss), Gerry Hemingway (dr), Otomo Yoshihide (elec). She released a couple of solo CDs, sound tracks, and productions together with Kang Tae-Hwan (as) and Je-Chun Park (perc), Otomo Yoshihide (elec), Sachiko M (sine wave), Gunter Muller (elec,perc). Je-Chun Park - percussion

Percussionist Je-Chun Park is widely regarded as a pioneer in the movement of combining western Jazz with traditional Korean music. Born in 1961 in Seoul Korea he graduated from Chung-Ang University in 1986 with a degree in music composition. After graduation he began his study in the art of 'Pansori', the traditional music of the Korean shamans, and the 'Chango' the traditional Korean drum. In 1993 he released the CD 'Mol-e mori', the first of his work to feature the combination of traditional Korean music and jazz. To facilitate playing this fusion of styles Je-Chun Park performed on a unique percussion set-up consisting of Korean and western instruments. Je-Chun Park played a lot in Korea and Japan and toured through Asia, Europe, Russia, Egypt, USA . He played with Kang Tae-Hwan (a. sax), Wadada Leo Smith (tp), Satoh Masahiko (p), Gustavo Aguilar (perc), Otomo, Miyeon, Gunter Muller, Tanaka Yumiko, Sachiko M and many more. Hans Schüttler - piano, electronics, toys details...

Hans Schüttler (Germany) is composer, pianist and electronic musician. His roots are the german classical music. He grapples with the connection of improvisation, classical music and electronic. Schüttler played on international festivals (Europe, Asia, South-America). His music was supported by the Goetheinstitut. Hans Schüttler wrote music for radio and TV-productions (German radio and TV WDR, NDR, HR, Moscow TV, Radio Metropolitan Havanna). Hans Schüttler was part of our Ensemble Syzygy which toured through Korea in 2003.

Blaise Siwula - saxophone, clarinets... details...

Blaise plays saxophone, clarinet, reed flutes, electric mandolin and Oryx horn. We are proud to present him on ART.CappuccinoNet with his unique dynamic and colourful sound. Blaise has been an improvising musician for the past 30 years and has performed besides the United States in Canada, Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, France, Singapore, Thailand and Hong-Kong with musicians and composers such as Cecil Taylor and Tan Dun. His Citizen Ontological Musical Agenda C.O.M.A. project features one specific group which will be followed by a more spontaneous gathering of musicians most Sunday Nights in New York.
